http://www.nwp.org/cs/public/print/resource/2577 is a good beginning place for you to look. At the fourth grade level my lifebook became a combination of Caulkins and Fletcher's ideas...it was incredibly powerful and produced a very different type of writer, or rather students writing authentically. Would be interested to hear how others have worked with the concept.
