It is a standardized test made by our state testing department and based on 
our state curriculum. All tests in NC are developed by our state based on 
the curriculum goals for that grade level or subject. NC also gives a 
narrative writing test in fourth grade. Middle schoolers and high schoolers 
also have more stringent exit exams to pass.
