The ninth grade social studies (Geography) teachers in my building are looking for a fiction or nonfiction novel as a companion to Red Scarf Girl which they have students read during their unit on East Asia. They would like a title which would be more appealing to the boys in their classes. The other caveat is that they want the subject matter to pertain to no later than 1980!
