The ninth grade social studies (Geography) teachers in my building are looking for a fiction or nonfiction novel as a companion to Red Scarf Girl which they have students read during their unit on East Asia. They would like a title which would be more appealing to the boys in their classes. The other caveat is that they want the subject matter to pertain to no later than 1980! Anyone have any suggestions?
