What about using Bare Books? They are bound books with a plain white cover and inside pages either lined or unlined. Here's the website:
http://www.barebooks.com/books.htm I can find them at our local teachers' supply store. They cost about $1.50-1.75. I'm sure you could find then somewhere on the web.
