I have been looking at the work of Roger Farr and waswondering if anyone has
any lessons on teaching student think alouds?
I do lots of modeling on all the skills almost on a daily basis. I have also
taught my students the seven comprehension skills. However, I have not really
given students the opportunity to share their think alouds. I only see if they
apply them through their work. For example on visualization, I give them the
opportunity to show me what they visualize but not the opportunity to
"verbalize their thinking processes". I guess I really want each student to be
in the "teacher's place" and model their think aloud.

While it might not be possible for every student to go through the process
(though in the course of the year it would be)--I find myself really wanting
to listen to their ticking brain and not just responding to prompts.

I am hoping that Ginger will read this and understand what I am trying to do
and help me out.

thanks,
olga
