I was recently offered a position teaching an advanced 7th grade reading class! I'm very excited but also a little overwhelmed in trying to decide what I need to do to prepare. The class is new next year so it's pretty open as to where I take it.
I would love to incorporate lit circles this requires ordering new books. Any suggestions on how to organize the lit circles? Based on genre? Author? Theme? Any suggestions on novels? The advanced 8th grade teacher is using a lot of classic texts so I'd like to go more contemporary.
