Susan, Thanks for your thoughtful response. I have had a similar experience. In Walk Two Moons, the book changes from past to present time ,which at first posed a problem for my students, but once they figured it out (without my help) they have moved through it smoothly. We are in the process of ordering new books for next year. What grade level do you use the Kate Klise books with? Do they appeal to girls and boys? We are actually looking for books that will support a new social studies curriculum. Thanks for the website.
