BUT, I wonder if we need to challenge our advanced readers to become aware of their thinking...to explain how they know what they know so that they too can comprehend at a deeper level and take their discussions of books to that deeper place. Which is exactly what Ellin does at the beginning of each chapter of Mosaic with her discussion of her thought processes of how she came to understanding in each of the pieces that begin each chapter. Isn't that exactly what we should be doing with our advanced readers? Isn't that why she wrote the book that way, to provide that model?
