I read Inkheart aloud to my high ability first graders this year. They loved it! One child had seen the movie before I started reading. I did "edit" a few words while I was reading (although I know they probably had heard them all before), I just didn't feel comfortable reading that vocabulary in my classroom during a read aloud. I'm sure the book is meant for older students, but the storyline is so fascinating (I was totally intrigued - especially since the "gist" of the story is about "reading characters out of the story" into our world. I am midway through the sequel and also plan to read the third one. It is a quick adult read for teachers who love books. > To: [email protected] > Date: Mon, 15 Jun 2009 17:26:48 -0400 > From: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [MOSAIC] 4th grade read aloud > > What about inkheart?? > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Brenda White-Keller <[email protected]> > To: [email protected] > Sent: Mon, Jun 15, 2009 5:21 pm > Subject: [MOSAIC] 4th grade read aloud > > > > > > > > > Hi, What read alouds do you all suggest for 4th grade.
