I am a K-1 Title I, reading teacher.? I love using National Geographic Windows on Literacy.? They're leveled, non fiction readers with the awesome, National Geographic quality photography for illustrations.? The are not "phonics driven" but are mostly decodable using a variety of skills in addition to just "sounding out".?

One of my goals is to spend the first 5/10 minutes on a nonfiction skill. I have taught 2-5th, so I'm good with these grades, but would like some advice on k/1. Please send me any ideas, even if they are not nonfiction suggestions. Anything will help spur the thinking process and application of skills!? Thanks,?
