I keep adding books to my bookshelf without enough time to read them. Would "R5" be a valuable purchase for grade 3? I read an excerpt online along with your email and it sounds like it may be a useful resource.
I am also interested in any commentary on Grand Conversations that was mentioned in a previous email thread. I have been using Harvey Daniel's books as my main resource for lit circles but it is primarily written for high school. Grand Conversations may be more user friendly for upper elementary. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Also, other than the DRA 2 are you aware of any resource/assessments that would help in analyzing/pinpointing on an ongoing basis the explicit reading strategy/s that a child may need to strengthen?
