I am far less awesome... I teach 7th and 8th grade reading and still use picture books regularly for think alouds, modeling strategies, etc. Some of these books are extremely sophisticated, others are just timeless classics. All of them are treasures in my mind. I just have them in ABC order lined up on a long, built-in shelf/table that takes up an entire side of my classroom and also, coincidentally, serves as our computer center. I display certain books periodically on window ledges and also leave the books I use for think-alouds on the ledge of my chalkboard. It works for me.
