Me too. How did we learn to read??? I went to what was considered a very progressive public school in the mid 40's!!!! Can you imagine being "progressive" then? I don't remember phonics, but I know we were later than "The Horn Books." I do believe it was language experience. I don't remember basal readers. I do remember we did alot of writing. How did I learn to read then?
