Hi, I am a Head Start teacher in Florida and am reading The Flat World and
Education by Linda Darling-Hammond. The chapter that peaked my interest was
Steady Work: How Countries Build Strong Teaching and Learning Systems.
Quoting, "nearly half of teachers' school time is used to hone practice through
school-based curriculum work, collective planning and cooperation with parents,
which allows schools and families to work closely together on behalf of
students. Since Finland is one of th success stories in education, I would
like to find out the particulars on how Finnish teachers sustain a partnership
with families in supporting student learning. Being a Head Start teacher, the
family component is very important to a successful program, therefore I am
always looking for ways to improve. How do I find more information on this
topic other than "google".
