Teachers who do not "allow" boys to read the type of books that interest
them - like comics, "real life" adventure, books that we may not think of
as real academic (like "captain underpants") - There is a lack of motivation
when boys cannot chose what they want to read....and face it, the majority
of elementary school teachers are female - we tend to pick books that appeal to
us -
not boys....

just my two cents....

(what I've seen from experience as a mom and as a teacher)

Subject: [MOSAIC] boys and literacy

My question is: Boys and literacy--what do you think the real issue is?
