I know of one by Gary Paulson. * Soldier's Heart *has a reading level of 5.7 with an interest level of gr. 7-9 and F & P Guided Reading level of V. I have not read it, yet, myself but one of my students has and really liked it. Also, Gary Paulsen's books are always favorites of my students.
