Well, here is the hard answer to your question. You really don't have to keep 
everyone on the same page at the same time... let them read at their own 
pace.... and use a reading road map... or voluntary discussion 
groups/literature circles... to ensure understanding.  Students that read at a 
slower pace I have often asked them to take the book home as homework  so that 
they didn't feel too behind...

...unless you mean something different by "keeping everyone on the same page."

I am new to Daily 5 and am trying to figure out how to teach a whole class 
novel, Maniac Magee, in this format.  Is it possible?  I teach 6th grade in 80 
minute blocks.  How would I keep everyone on the same page with comprehension 
of the book while doing the components of Daily 5 or stations?  Any suggestions
