I'm in the process of reading Readers Front and Center. So far I'm really
enjoying it. Comes from a different perspective on conferencing/conferring with
your students. While I usually feel more comfortable if I have read the book we
are conferencing on, this author focuses on what you can learn about a student
when you haven't read the book. The idea of having them read aloud and you
asking questions about what they just read can tell you a lot. And (even if
they are "wrong") asking them why they answered that way. I liked the reminder
that we do not always need to jump in and correct but pay attention to their
reading process.
Again, I'm only about 1/3 of the way through but very interested to keep
reading.
