We've been using D5 in first grade for the last 3 years - we have 90 minute Literacy and Math blocks (we use the D5 structure for Math also) we've made modifications regarding the number of rotations (we do 4 rotations so we call it Daily 4 - Read with Teacher; Read with Technology; Word Work/Work on Writing (alternate days); Read to Self/Read to Partner (alternate days) . . . we build stamina to about 20 minute rotations . . . we make modifications as we need to . . . honestly, it's been amazing - as long as you are true to following the suggested implementation timeline in the D5 book you will be amazed at what your kids can accomplish!
