Hi Jehan

Yes, this politically incorrect terminology is purely historical, and as you 
say moses can be used for any language pair, given appropriate data. 
In fact, the 'f' originally stood for 'French', since the early work on 
statistical machine translation (eg http://www.aclweb.org/anthology/J93-2003) 
dealt with French-English translation, using Canadian parliamentary 
proceedings,
