Use a mask file:

http://goo.gl/3bEPfl

It works the opposite of an "area_detect" by saying *don't* detect motion
in the areas of the view that you block out in your mask file.

Hello,

When I connect my wanscam camera like this:

netcam_url rtsp://user:pass@192.168.x.x:554/0

I see this in the logs:

[3] [NTC] [NET] netcam_rtsp_resize_ntc: Netcam: 1280 x 720 => Config:
320 x 240

So I assume the camera is reporting the picture size incorrectly. I
fixed this with height and width:

width 1280
height 720

And the videos created by motion detection are correct. But, the time
elapse video only shows a quarter of the picture, as if that's confused
to the frame size.

Is there any way to fix this?

John

Curiously, mplayer will show the full picture but it breaks up at
points, and VLC shows the quarter picture version despite claiming (via
media information) that the video was recorded at 1280x720.

What happens if you record your videos at a lower resolution like the
default of 320 x 240? Do you get the same behavior?

If not, then I would suspect you're recording at too high a resolution. I
never got motion to work well with resolutions as high as you're trying to
record.

Having said that, I've only used web cams so I have no idea what might be
expected with an IP camera.
