I have a remotely located security system with a single camera that has
been running motion continuously for the past 7 years. I need to add 2
more cameras and would like to know if I can reference the cameras by name
instead of by /dev/video* for the videodevice parameter in motion.conf.
Thank you,
Ray Reeves

Motion 4.0 has been released on the github site for those interested.
https://github.com/Motion-Project/motion/releases/tag/release-4.0
Deb packages have been created for the active distributions of
Debian/Ubuntu/Pi and users should use these instead of building from
source unless the very latest changes are required. The guide has also
been updated with the build instructions as well as all configuration
options. Some additional work is however still needed on the wiki pages.
Included below is the release notes for 4.0 which indicate the changes
since 3.4.1. The changes between 3.4.1 and 3.2.12 are listed in the
notes for 3.4.1
Many thanks to all that have contributed to the version.
Mr-Dave
