Hi
I've read thru the guide and not sure how to do this, or if it can be done.
One of the cams is a USB camera over looking a door, it has no night vision (IR)
but the door is lit with motion detect lights, so at the time there is motion
its either daylite or
lights are one.

Can I use any of the settings to ignore low light levels ie, darkness , so
motion is only triggered
when above a certain ambient light level ?

sorry for what may seem a daft question.

Hi Richard,

when there is no ligth, Motion should not detect any motion, right?
But I believe there must be a reason why you asked that question. What am I
missing?

There is no such option to set a minimum light level. How would you define
'light level'? Is that an average over the entire picture? When there is an
almost dark scene with a small illuminated area, you would maybe miss to detect
motion in that area.

Brgds Joerg.

Hi Joerg
Where I live there is no such thing as darkness, there is sodium street light
outside, and we are
on a roar junction , so when cars turn at night and a some light is on the door
as its moving
motion is detected.
However, when someone approaches the door a light comes on so the area is
brightly lit , as it is
in daylight.
I'm trying to find a setting that will ignore the low level car lights, and
will detect motion when
the area is well lit..
I hope that explains what I'm trying to do

Hi, maybe you can set the amount of pixels changed to be considered true
motion:

############################################################
# Motion Detection Settings:
############################################################

# Threshold for number of changed pixels in an image that
# triggers motion detection (default: 1500)
threshold 1500

And maybe playing around with this settings too:

# Detect motion in predefined areas (1 - 9). Areas are numbered like that:
1 2 3
# A script (on_area_detected) is started immediately when motion is
4 5 6
# detected in one of the given areas, but only once during an event.
7 8 9
# One or more areas can be specified with this option. Take care: This
option
# does NOT restrict detection to these areas! (Default: not defined)
; area_detect value

# Ignore sudden massive light intensity changes given as a percentage of
the picture
# area that changed intensity. Valid range: 0 - 100 , default: 0 = disabled
lightswitch 0

# Picture frames must contain motion at least the specified number of frames
# in a row before they are detected as true motion. At the default of 1, all
# motion is detected. Valid range: 1 to thousands, recommended 1-5
minimum_motion_frames 1

hope it helps...
Maxi
