The frames were always blurry but now I only get about 3 fps. :( I?m running the latest motion from the apt-get distro 3.2.12+git20140228. Can someone help me out? I?ve tried the exposure_auto and exposure_absolute with little success. I?ve also tried changing to MJPG with the v42l_palette and it doesn?t work. (Only YUYV works the motion log is saying) Help! Thank you, John Byrne P.S. I?d be happy to develop this project if anyone is interested in directing me towards what needs to be developed. I was thinking about using gperf tools on motion but think I?d try this list before I put a lot of effort into that. ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Mon, 3 Jul 2017 01:13:25 -0400 From: Jeff Groves <jgro...@krenim.org> To: motion-user@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: Re: [Motion-user] Slow frame rate and blurry frames Message-ID: <44c47ce0-ff59-aab1-2540-8ee29d0fd...@krenim.org> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8"; Format="flowed" Hi John: Try disabling THP and setting swappiness to 1. Here are directions for making these changes here: _Disabling THP: _ http://www.bictor.com/2015/07/19/disabling-transparent-hugepages-in-ubuntu-14-04-server-lts/ The above page is for ubuntu 14, but things have not changed in 16. My preferred method in that document is editing the grub file. _Setting s__wappiness to 1: _ https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SwapFaq#What_is_swappiness_and_how_do_I_change_it.3F The above page sets swappiness to 10 in the example. I would suggest setting it to 1 for real time streaming applications like this. Good luck, Jeff G.
