For full disclosure, I very occasionally see a corrupt image, I think
mainly/primarily when the motion daemon has just started on a multi-camera
system. I currently believe this is a software bug in ffmpeg or motion, but
I've not had time to narrow it down, and it's very infrequent on my system. The
same corruption doesn't seem to occur in reolink's official app. It could be
related to the fact that I've using the hires (4 or 5 mega pixel) streams to do
motion detection on.
The hardware seems good though, and their support team did quickly replace the
camera I was seeing on the corruption on in case it was a hardware fault.

I definitely wouldn't recommend foscam cameras though. There are too many

support is also very poor in my experience.

I'm having good luck with a pair of inexpensive Amcrest IP2M-844E cameras. This
may be wrong but I think Amcrest is re-branded Foscam hardware. I've been
impressed so far with 720p on RTSP though they will do 1080p. I keep it on 720p
to save bandwidth and CPU. Night mode is good as well. Only downside is the
MJPEG stream is unusable on that particular model for some reason. It's a known
issue and not related to Motion.

I am have an amcrest camera.

The history is actually complex - amcrest use to be the USA/UK exclusive agent
for foscam. foscam ended the exclusive relationship, at which point amcrest
started producing their own hardware, I believe. I don't believe there is any
relationship to foscam.

The cameras seem fine, but I've had bad support from amcrest and their firmware
and software is poor. If you look at the amazon reviews you still find a lot of
bad reviews - these are from real users. There are a lot of good reviews too,
but the majority of those are from people that amcrest gave the cameras to free
or at a large discount. I was unable to configure them to send email
notifications via my local smtp server due to a bug in the firmware where it
tries to do smtp authentication even when you switch smtp authentication off
and the server doesn't support authentication - their support team would not
accept it was a bug, and kept on claiming it must be fine as they can configure
their camera to send emails via gmail without a problem.
