Subject: [Motion-user] POE Adaptor Question

Hello,

This isn't a motion question, but I thought this may be an issue others
have dealt with. Many of the newer IP cameras are POE only. I found passive
injectors, but I already have 12VDC at the cameras and I am trying to find
adaptors.

Thanks

My POE cameras have a local power connection (others may also). If
you use that local power connection then you do not need a POE network
connection, you just need a standard network connection.

The cameras I'm currently using have power connectors, but a lot of the new
cameras do not have a separate power connector. That is why I'm looking for
an adapter.

I like having mine full POE and it is really nice to have all of the
cameras powered centrally (ie on a UPS). And most of the issues I
have had with power on a lot of devices has been that the cheap power
transformers burn out over time as they are generally not well built.
The 4-pt 100Mbit POE switches are not that much more expensive over
a 4-pt switch.
