Mathias and Dougie:

I created a brand-new system on my Raspberry Pi 4 (4 GB) and no
problems.? This was last November so possibly an intermediate update
broke something,? ...I update Bookworm periodically but not Motion portion.

It's 4th from the bottom at
https://github.com/Motion-Project/motion/releases/tag/release-4.6.0

Once you get it going there are a few changes in the way commands are
issued so do not import old config files.? For me one of the most
important was 'v42_palette' is now part of 'video_parms'. For me the
command is 'video_params palette=8'.

And as a side note: I had problems using Bookworm headless.? Can switch
from Wayland back to X but IMO this will cause future problems.? ssh
works fine but Remmina did not.? Seems at time no one was getting
headless to work so I did a workaround of using a Dummy Monitor.?
Remmina is happy!

Barry

Ah that's interesting. I run all my rpi's headless. They're usually
stuffed in plant pots or up the loft!
