Hello,

Can I run motionplus alongside motion for testing or will I have issues?

Thanks

Yes.? It would be just like running an additional instance of Motion
alongside what is already running.? e.g. You'd have to change the ports,
couldn't use the same v4l2 device without some sort of loopback'ing, etc.

Hi,

Testing motionplus-0.2.0 for first time to compare to motion-4.6.0. Only
one serious bug, the rest are usability and clarity issues.

1. text_left ignores meaning of quotes to pad spaces for indentation,
includes the quotes on video overlay.

Two relevant config files at
https://seahorsecorral.org/bugreport/motionplus-205.zip

In the browser webcontrol,

2. Pressing submit after changing text_scale does nothing. If it needs
motionplus to be restarted, perhaps it should say so. Can't change for
current session, and must edit config files manually.

3. any config lines specified in camera.conf are not shown on webcontrol
screen when camera selected is "Default", must choose specific camera to
see and change. Okay after it is understood, but not intuitive for
changing global settings.

4. Choosing "Save config" when camera.conf is being used, discards
camera line in motionplus.conf, thus requiring manual editing before
restarting motionplus program. I recall not being to use save config for
motion also, so meh... restore conf files from backup.

5. pressing X on web control does not return to stream, guess reload is
the only way.

The biggest barrier to drop in replacement of motion, will be rewriting
headless programs that communicate to motion via http GET commands. But
since POST does not really have any additional burden (time, single tcp)
in usage over GET, I guess it will be okay afterward. Tomorrow I'll use
wireshark to get the POST requirements. Bedtime in my time zone.

Fairly painless getting it running to compare, side by side. Looking
positive,

Stewart
