Sharon Lind and I relocated the Varied Thrush at 4th Avenue and 1st Street in downtown Two Harbors today. It was originally found by Mike Hendrickson on the Two Harbors CBC, but has only been seen once since then, in late December. The bird was very skittish as it flew among the canopy of several tall white pines. Earlier Mike Steffes and I found a roosting Northern Saw-whet Owl in the pine/spruce woods northeast of 4th Avenue and 1st Street. A couple of good birds for the Great Backyard Bird Count.
