Chet Meyers writes: Today, while scouting ice fishing locations on Minnetonka I also birded. Most of the main bays are frozen over (though not safe ice). One exception was Brown's Bay which had over 1700 common mergansers. The east side of the power plant at Black Dog had thousands of mallards and Canada geese but very few gulls and nothing of special interest. Here's hoping a glaucous shows up on Calhoun before it freezes over. Chet Meyers, Hennepin County
