This weekend, Jo and Steve Blanich, Butch Ukura and I birded north of
town. On the rice paddies north along County Road 1 we found a
RED-NECKED PHALAROPE, 5 GREAT EGRETS, SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS, LEAST
SANDPIPERS, BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, GREATER AND LESSER
YELLOWLEGS, AMERICAN BITTERNS and SANDHILL CRANES. Also seen this
weekend were 7 BLACK-BILLED MAGPIES along Township 380 south of
Palisade and a SHARP-TAILED GROUSE along C.R.1 Warren Nelson
