This last weekend, Bill Stauffer and I birded around the county and
found a few interesting things. The SNOWY OWL is still present along
370th Lane about 3 miles northeast of Aitkin just off of Highways
210/169. There are at least 16 SHARP-TAILED GROUSE dancing four tenths
mile south of the town of Tamarack along County Road 16. Other birds
seen: several AMERICAN KESTRAL, ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, SNOW BUNTINGS,
COMMON REDPOLLS, PINE SISKINS, GRAY JAY, RUFFED GROUSE, BARRED OWL AND
several BALD EAGLES -- some on their nests. Warren Nelson
