Recently, a posting was made on MNBird where the author was missing a
Golden-crowned Kinglet for the year. What better way to fill out your year
list by picking up the missing species on a CBC. Below is a list of birds
and the CBC circles that are most likely to have that bird. The percentage
is the percent of counts for that circle that the bird was counted. E.g. if
Rochester had 34 counts and Canada Goose was counted in 34 of those counts
Rochester would be 100% for Canada Goose. The minimum reflects the minimum
number of counts to be included e.g. if Virginia only had 2 counts and both
saw Great Gray Owl then Virginia would be 100% for Great Gray Owl but would
be excluded because the Owl has a minimum of 10 counts for inclusion. Feel
free to send me an email if your target is not on the list below or if you
want a full list for a bird or a CBC circle. In case you are wondering the
Black-capped Chickadee is the bird counted on the most CBC Circles
statewide, 2095 counts out of 2119 total or 99% of the counts include at
least 1 Black-capped Chickadee, #2 = Bluejay (98%), #3 - Downy WP (98%), #4
- Hairy WP (97%), #5 - White-breasted Nuthatch (97%).
