Led a field trip for the Minnesota River Valley Audubon Chapter today and spent
most of the day birding in Northern Ramsey county. Here are some of the
species of birds we observed during the day.

Surf Scoter - 11:30 - 12:15 pm & 1:45 - 2:00 pm - Bald Eagle Lake - The bird
was observed on the West side of the lake resting in with a mixed flock of
Ducks and observed from the intersection of Bald Eagle Blvd W & CR RD H2.
Greater Scaup - Same location as the Surf Scoter.
Great Blue Heron
Northern Shrike - West of Sucker Lake, with access to the North end of the park
on Rice Street. The bird was observed in the open area to the South and East
of the parking lot, perched at the top of a tree.
Red-breasted Nuthatch - Same location as the Northern Shrike, except that it
was observed in one of the Conifers in the parking lot.
Swamp Sparrow - observed in a cattail marsh, along the shore of White Bear
Lake, along Lake Avenue and 5th street.
