Jan. 12, 2008

For the 5th consecutive winter, I found a dark-morph adult Red-tailed Hawk at
the exact location along Pine Bend Trail. The site is at the industrial complex
about 1 mile east of the intersection of Hi 52 and Hi 55. As we approached the
site, I told my brother, Donn, that I've found a dark-morph adult at this same
spot the previous 4 years. He then said, "You mean like that one?". There it
was perched within the fenced enclosure just as in past years. Later, I checked
the photos I took of the bird in Jan. 2004 and I have no reason to think that
this is not the same bird. A large flock of Rock Pigeons resides here and is no
doubt an important lure that keeps bring this bird back.

Hopefully, the Gyrfalcon will follow suit...
