Migration is winding down at Carver Park. Juncos now outnumber other
sparrows. There seemed to be less White-throated Sparrows around and only a
few more Fox Sparrows compared to last week. There were still Yellow-rumped,
Orange-crowned, and Nashville Warbler but not many. A few Ruby-crowned
Kinglet were scattered across the park along with a Blue-headed Vireo and a
Brown Creeper.
At the Chevalle wetlands in Chaska there were several Killdeer, 2 Lesser
Yellowlegs, and a Wilson's Snipe. There was still a Great Blue Heron and
Green Heron, as well. There weren't any different waterfowl species compared
to past weeks at both Carver Park or the wetlands. The most common bird of the
day was Red-winged Blackbird. There was once again a flock in the reeds at the
wetlands, and several small flocks of blackbird flew over Carver Park.
