Charles A Evans was one of the founding members of the Minnesota Bird Club which was one of the three groups that came together in 1938 to form the MOU. He was one of 13 who attended the initial meeting on March 15, 1929 and eventually served as its president. He served as editor of its publication, The Flicker, and continued as editor when it became the journal of the MOU.

Evans received B.S., M.D. and Ph.D degrees from the University of Minnesota. He spent 36 years at the University of Washington where he was on the original faculty of the School of Medicine and was chair of microbiology for 24 years.

He died in Seattle on December 4 at the age of 96.
