Afton CBC, Afton SP, Jan 1:
Five of us hiked the trails, and found 21 species. Among them was a
flock of 30+ Common Redpolls, feeding on birches in a ravine south of
the ski area, and 60+ white-winged crossbills feeding in a band of
spruce and red pine on the far north side of the park. (For those
familiar with it, this is close to where the T. Solitaire hung out
last year.) Rob and I later found 4 crossbills feeding in evergreens
near the group camp on the far south side of the park.
