Hi everyone,
Gene Bauer, Kathy Thom and I birded about the county today to start our
annual lists all over again. We ended up with 36 species, some of them pretty
interesting!

Highlights:
Tufted Titmouse & Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - both reported during our CBC at a
feeder between Cannon City and Northfield. There were also one pair of Purple
Finches here.

Red-headed Woodpecker - at feeder across from Nerstrand Big Woods State Park.

Merlin & Northern Shrike - both within yards of each other along Cagger Trail,
just north of Faribault.

Other good birds: Belted Kingfisher, Lapland Longspur (one bird, but strangely
no Horned Larks or Snow Buntings today), Barred Owl, 3 Rough-legged Hawks, 2
Northern Flickers, Sharp-shinned Hawk, and Pine Siskins both at feeders and in
Maple Lawn Cemetery.

Good birding!
