At around 9 AM today, a Great-Horned Owl was seen roosting in the
evergreens, along the river trail at Crosby Farm Park. It was in the
stand of trees just east of where the dirt path intersects the paved
trail. This is the same day-roost area usually frequented by a pair of
barred owls, which I last saw there in December. Knowing that GHOWs
will kill BAOWs, I'm hoping the barred have retreated safely, perhaps
across the mouth of the MN River, where there is a known nest cavity.
