there!

Birds in Flight: The Art and Science of How
Birds Fly with Carrol Henderson-DNR Non
game Wildlife

Date: Thursday, February 19, 2009
Time: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Join us for a special family program to learn more
about this and our feathered friends. Participants in
the GBBC will also be able to swap birding stories and
view many of the photos submitted during the count.
For this program only, registration is required and
there is a fee of $5.00 per family.

To reserve your space, phone the University of Minnesota
Extension Office, Itasca County at 218-327-7486.
Also, if you happen to be in the area, there will be an open house introductory
session to the Great Backyard Bird Count from 1:00 - 4:00 pm on Sunday, January
25th at the Forest History Center. If you have any experience with the count
and would like to help out, we'd welcome you as well.

Bird feeding stations will be staffed with people to
answer your questions about seed, feeders, and the
best habitat for encouraging birds. Bird watchers
who know the best places to look for birds will
walk out into the forest with you to help you learn
to identify birds. A computer will be set up to
show you the website for the Great Backyard Bird
Count with a person to answer any questions you
may have about collecting and entering data.
