Hi all,

Our first full day (6.30am til 6.15pm) in Sax Zim produced some really great
birding but alas..
no Great Gray Owls. We met plenty of other birders but not a soul amongst them
had seen a Great Gray today - we will see what tomorrow brings...

Hightlights today (Friday) included

2 Hawk Owls, one at the south end of Admiral Road, the other near the south end
of McDavitt Rd. Boreal Chickadee: Admiral Road feeding station
2 Hoary Redpolls: Admiral Road feeding station
Northern Shrike: 2: one south end of McDavitt by railroad X-ing, and one near
south end of Admiral Rd.
10+ Ruffed Grouse: various locations
Pine Grosbeaks: several - various locations
White-winged Crossbills: several - various locations

We heard of others seeing American Three-toed and Black-backed Woodpeckers on
McDavitt at the usual location, but in two visits we saw neither species : Must
try harder!

Back on the search for Great Grays in the morning - any help appreciated !
