This is a tough one. The longer I thought about it the more favorites came to mind. In the past Robins would be the obvious choice, now they are here all winter. As more of a "bird feeder", than a "birder" the definitive moment spring has absolutely arrived would be when I see Orchard and Northern Orioles, and Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks at the feeders. However, what gets me really excited is the sight of waterfowl in flight. Strings of geese passing over loudly announcing their arrival. A flock of Pintails tumbling out of the sky to the water below. Flocks of Teal flying like blackbirds around a marsh. Canvasbacks zooming in like a flight of fighter jets. Canada geese setting their wings a quarter mile out, starting a glide path like airliners over the Minnesota River valley at Minn.-St. Paul International. Trumpeter Swans flying by with ultimate grace. All of those make me feel like spring is coming. The wWhite-Throated, Fox, White-Crowned sparrows and Harris' beautifull vocals when I get up in the morning tell me spring IS here. The Orioles, Grosbeaks, and Hummers tell me
