At 4:30pm (and a full day after the Arborteum birding day) the St.John's Prep
School pines had one male, two female Red Crossbills feeding upside down on the
large Norway Spruce cones. Discovered them while looking for a Pine Warbler
;up there and shortly after seeing a Cape May Warbler, RC Kinglet, along w/
many Chipping Sparrows and Pine Siskins. Certainly didn't expect to get this
1st County-List bird for Stearns at this time of year, although I was alert for
such possibilities all winter. Perhaps nesting here? mjb
