Hi MN Birders,

This afternoon I photographed a weird gull in the South Shore WMA in a field just west of CR 17. Take CR 12 to CR 17 and turn left at the church. The gulls were in a field on the south side of that road a few hundred yards in.

The bird was a white-headed adult with a pale gray mantle, yellow eye, short, thin, black bill and black legs. It was the same general size as the accompanying Ring-billed Gulls. There is a photo on my Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=30373047&id=1504442860&saved . Initial thoughts from others are that it resembles Black-billed Gull from New Zealand, but spread-winged shots are needed. I'm going back in the morning to see if I can get them.

Good birding,
Steve
