Led a trip to Father Hennepin State Park, which is located on the South Eastern
shore of Mille Lacs Lake. We encountered several days of rain and unusually
cool weather for this time of year. But, we did manage to find some very
interesting species of birds. Here were a few of my favorites.

Common Merganser - with young
Ruddy Turnstone - We observed the Ruddy Turnstone, catching insects on a dock
on the Western shore of Mille Lacs Lake on Monday.
Common Tern - Father Hennepin State park.
Barred Owls - Heard at both Mille Lacs Kathio State Park and Father Hennepin
State Park.
Red-headed Woodpecker - Isle city park
Olive-sided Flycatcher - Mille Lacs County - Father Hennepin State park &
Kanabec county - along CR 80, 1/2 mile South of Highway 27.
Alder Flycatcher - Heard and observed in many locations.
Common Raven - Mille Lacs Kathio State park.
Purple Martin - Very numerous around the South Western portion of Mille Lacs
Lake.
Red-breasted Nuthatch - Father Hennepin State park.
Veery - Heard in all three counties, in numerous locations.
Hermit Thrush - Kanabec county - Several observed along CR 80.
Wood Thrush - Heard and observed in 7 or 8 locations.
Blue-winged Warbler - Morrison County - Sky View Road, 1/2 mile East of CR 8.
Golden-winged Warbler
Tennessee Warbler - Father Hennepin State Park
Mourning Warbler - Father Hennepin State park - near the park check in station.
Purple Finch - Was enjoyable to hear them singing in a number of locations.
