The family of Great-crested Flycatchers fledged and left the nest box this
morning July 12th Rice Lake Twp just North of the city of Duluth.

Upon inspecting the nest box they were using I discovered one unhatched egg of
the six that started in the clutch, so I think they were successful in rearing
5 young.

Also of interest was the nest made of moss, short dry grass, and pine needles
with bits of celophane? like cigarette pack wrapper, and several snails? They
were small perhaps .5 inch "coil" type snail.. not sure if aquatic or
terrestrial. Not sure if they were left over food or what.

Regards,

Waiting for rain in Duluth
