Yesterday while on the Redwing Christmas Bird Count our group (Jim Ryan, Jim Gay and myself) counted 25 different species including 3 rough legged hawks. Our big excitement was when we came across a female rose-breasted grosbeak at a residential feeder. Since it is unusual to see one this late in the year we made sure to get some pictures for verification, this is the first time one has been counted in the Redwing Count. We checked back a couple of times later in the day but we were not able to relocate the bird.
