As I reflect on 2009 from a birding perspective, I want to say "thanks":

* To MOU leadership and volunteers. It's easy for those of us who use and benefit from services to presume - or be critical - but the reality is that MOU does an excellent job, from the Records Committee (thanks, Peder, one day I will slow down and create good documentation!) to Field Trips to Conservation to Mentoring to.... (you get the picture, I'll never remember every group that we've benefited from). Specifically I'd like to thank both MOU-net and MNBird for providing these forums to share and be shared with, I know that many of my best Minnesota birds would still be part of an uncertain future without your posts.

* To Minnesota birding friends & field trip attendees - while the birds are the attraction - the relationships and interaction make it all worthwhile.

* To my son and birding buddy, Nate - for our relationship, for your far sharper eyes, for your willingness to stand & share what you've seen. For those of you who know Nate, he's going through some difficult waters right now - had a seizure Christmas Eve - enduring all the testing that involves currently. He's doing OK, but it's a scary time. We welcome your prayers!

May each of you have a blessed New Year, and may that next life bird land on your feeders!
